Jean Elizabeth Gomez passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2025, at the age of 81 at her home in Barstow, California. Jean was born in San Francisco, California on January 11th, 1944, to Rossie and Flossie Butler. Jean touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Jean Elizabeth Gomez's life was characterized by the love she shared with her husband of 45 years, Cipriano Gomez, and her children, Todd McAllister and Rodney McAllister, and her beloved grandson, Thomas Griffith McAllister. In addition to Jean's husband, children, and grandson, she leaves behind her sister, Carolyn Lee and first cousins, James Bailey, Betty Alcutt, Gloria Taylor, Laura Stephens, Den Mayshack, Karol Womak Wheeler, Linda Wheeler, and Kathy Bell. She also leaves two brothers, Leo Butler and David Butler. Also mourning Jean's passing is her brother-in-law Pablo Gomez and Pablo's daughters, Dina, Jocelyn, and Paola, and many friends.
Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking cookies, home decorating, and especially creating uniquely designed and decorated Christmas trees.
Jean was a student at the America Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco where she appeared in several stage plays, including For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Jean moved to Los Angeles to further her acting career. While in Los Angeles she met her future husband Cipriano, and after they married, they both retired and moved to Barstow to the home she loved and enjoyed for the rest of her life. Jean will be remembered for being the light in the lives of people she met.

A Tale of Endless Poetry
In honor and to the memory of my wife Jean Gomez
San Francisco, CA 1944-2025 Barstow, CA
From the windows of love searching for words for my wife Jean my best friend
On this day, I just want to offer a bouquet of thoughts to the most precious
pearl who adorn the almighty altar of the creation
To my wife Jean
God be with you in your journey, sweetheart
We're all just travelers through the galaxies of space and time
I'm deeply hurt mourning your departure from Earth I miss you from the
deepest of my broken heart
Yes, I do miss you, my eternal loving wife I'm sending all my love
toward wherever you are...somewhere, someplace, across the universe
where one day we will meet again
This day of July 11 2025, everything around seems to be already set for our
final goodbye. I never thought of this day would come, but it's here.
I won't forget the very last time we went out and spent time together,
This day and place was Easter Sunday at our local Saint Joseph Catholic
Church
On April 20 2025, we went out for the 12:00pm Easter Sunday Mass
We enjoyed being for Mass and had the chance to share and have
communion together at the altar. Obviously, this was a divine recall
from the day we got married on Friday, March 4 1983.
Today, I wish I could write and write
An endless book
An endless story
An endless praise to my wife Jean
You may now rest in peace my wife my love will follow you to wherever you go
