Funeral Services for Jean Humphrey Williams, age 88, of Picayune, MS, who entered her eternal home on Saturday, July 5, 2025, will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 34 Pine Grove Road.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Services will be led by the Reverend Scott Cappleman, assisted by Dr. Justin Anderson.
Burial will be held at New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Jean was born on October 15, 1936, the youngest of Three children to Dennis and Myrtis Humphrey. She developed a love for piano at an early age. This love led to her playing for more than 50 years. This long career began as a teenager, playing at Pine Grove Church. She would go on to play at First Baptist Church of Picayune, Trinity United Methodist Church, and Pine Grove Church, where she also served as Church Secretary. Her most memorable years were playing at First Baptist Church along side Betty Polk at the organ. Their talent was unmatched.
No doubt countless hearts were touched while hearing the beautiful hymns she played. Even in her last months she played the keyboard, entertaining the residents at Serenity Pearl Assisted Living Facility. No music was needed. She remembered every hymn she played from memory.
Jean's pride and joy were found in her love for her five great grandchildren. She truly had a tremendous zest for life.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Williams, her parents, Dennis and Myrtis Wheat Humphrey, her brother Lavern Humphrey and her sister Joyce Humphrey Mitchell.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Williams Guidry and husband Nick, grandsons, Michael Guidry and wife Erica, and Jeremy Guidry and wife Natalie, and her five great grandchildren, Olivia, Chloe, Grayson, Ava and Annabelle.
The family would like to thank Melissa Brignac and the staff at Serenity Pearl Assisted Living Facility for the wonderful care they provided to Jean the last two years of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 34 Pine Grove Road, Picayune, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, T2T.org.
