Jeanette Smith, 87, of Longview, was born on November 15, 1937, in Dallas, Texas and passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Jeanette lived a life full of love, service, and adventure.
Jeanette was married to the love of her life, Bill Smith, for 52 wonderful years until his passing. Together, they made Longview their home in 1976, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in community and faith.
Jeanette dedicated 21 years of service as a beloved bus driver for Pine Tree ISD, where she was known for her warm smile and caring heart. After retirement, she embraced her passions with enthusiasm-traveling to new places, tending to her garden, and actively participating in the Native Plant Society. Her love for nature and learning was evident in everything she did.
A devoted member of her church, Jeanette, spent many years volunteering alongside her church family, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her generous spirit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith. Jeanette is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Cooper and Jolie Gilley and their spouses; her cherished grandchildren, Melvin Cooper, Henry Cooper, Megan Holmes, and Morgan Gilley; and her adored great-grandchildren, Nora and Mable Cooper. Her sister Martie Benton, nieces and nephew and numerous extended family.
Jeanette's legacy of kindness, curiosity, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Caring and Sharing supported by Pine Tree Church of Christ.
The services will be held on Monday June 23rd with a visitation at 1:00PM and funeral following at 2:00PM. The service will be held at Pine Tree Church of Christ in the Multi-Purpose and Chapel building (Spanish worship center).
