Jeanne Lois (Smith) Brown, age 82, of Staples, MN, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the Lakewood Health System Care Center. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
Jeanne was born on February 4, 1943, to Edward Alan Smith and Lois Eleanor Smith in Philbrook, MN. She was one of twelve children Eleanor, Jim (Eileen), Jack (Dixie), Mary, Pete, Boone, LeRoy (Shirley), Sandy (Kenny), Hank (Cindy) and had many beloved nieces and nephews. Jeanne cherished her large family deeply.

In 1977, Jeanne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but she faced her journey with courage, grace, and a resilient spirit. She continued to give back to others by volunteering with her special friend Julie Homberg at the Lakewood Health System Care Center, where she later became a resident herself 21 years ago.
Jeanne had a passion for collecting jewelry and knickknacks, always finding joy in life’s little treasures. While at the Care Center, she was known for her vibrant presence and enthusiasm—there wasn’t an activity or church service she would miss. Her dedication to staying engaged and connected brought joy to many around her.
Jeanne was the proud grandmother of eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. All of whom brought immense joy to her life and carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lois Smith; infant sister Edna Mae; brother Larry Kutzler, brother-in-laws George Webster, Duane Dukowitz, and Dewy Killian. Sister-in-law Susie Smith and beloved grandchildren Dackery Brown, Hope Brown, and Duff Brown.
