Jeffrey Lee Norman passed away unexpectedly at his home in Manton on April 22, 2025. Jeff lived large, loved BIG and never missed an opportunity to gather with friends and family to enjoy libations and have a laugh or three.
Jeff was born in Cadillac, Michigan on February 13, 1958 to Joyce and Eugene Norman. He lived most of his life in Wexford County. He was a 1976 graduate of Manton High School, where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was a lifeguard at Lake Billings in Manton during the summers, and trimmed Christmas trees for the Norman family business.
After high school, Jeff worked drilling test oil wells, and then for Northern Michigan Railroad as a signal maintainer. He was offered an opportunity to become a Wexford County Deputy Sheriff and attended Delta College to earn his associates degree. After several years of road patrol, he continued his education and became a DARE Officer in the Cadillac, Buckley, Manton and Mesick school systems. He continued working road patrol summers and school holidays, until he assumed the roll of DARE Officer and School Liaison in the three out county schools. Jeff also served as the Region 3 Vice President for the Deputy Sheriff's Association of Michigan (DSAM) for many years. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service to Wexford County. Jeff then worked full time at Manton Schools for 11 years as their School Resource Officer, retiring for good in 2020.
Jeff and Deb became Snow Birds in 2021. They spent the past five years relaxing, reading, golfing and hosting family at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda, Florida. Jeff loved trucks, motorcycles, fast cars and boats, owning several over the years. He enjoyed four trips to Sturgis Black Hills Motorcycle Rally with Manton friends, several Mackinac Bridge Corvette Cruises and time spent with his family on 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, the Gator or golf cart. Jeff was totally immersed in golf from the day he first picked up a club. He talked golf, practiced on his home driving range and played in several leagues over the years. It was a family affair as well, as Jeff and Deb hosted the Norman Brothers' Open for 10 years. It was legendary!
Jeff will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Debra (Deb); sons, Kyle (Raquel), Mitchell (Destiny), Nick, and Aaron (Marga). He was a PROUD GRANDPA to TEN BOYS, Luke, Joshua, Zachary, Elliott, Isaiah, Mason, Cullen, Lawson, Atlas and Lennon; brothers, Dennis (Kim) and Randall (Christie); several nephews and a niece; and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Manton Consolidated Schools Gymnasium.
