Jennifer Ann Schmidt Greenfield, known affectionately as Jen to her loved ones, passed away on November 26, 2024, in Chicago, IL, at the age of 33. Born on September 28, 1991, in Royal Oak, MI, Jen was a vibrant soul whose creativity and love for life touched everyone she knew.
Jen is survived by her devoted husband, Bradley Greenfield; her loving parents, Ben and JoAnn Schmidt; her father-in-law, Steven Greenfield; her caring sister-in-law, Brittany and her husband Brian Holt along with her adored nieces, Sophie and Scarlett; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her fur babies, Bentley, Rillo, and Addie, also held a special place in her heart. She is preceded in death by her mother in-law, Debra Young; and her grandparents.
A proud alumna of Columbia College in Chicago, Jen earned her Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture and brought beauty and innovation to the world as a Staff Designer at Jensen & Halstead. Her passion for design was matched only by her commitment to charitable work, particularly her involvement with Jane's Room, a charity close to her heart. She loved all that Chicago had to offer, and called that home for more than 10 years.
Jen's enthusiasm for life was evident in her varied interests. An avid advanced SCUBA diver, a culinary enthusiast, and a world traveler, she also had interests in architecture, fashion design, self-care, and party planning. Her love for the outdoors was expressed through gardening, hiking, and her adventurous spirit led her to ascend many mountains, including Mount Elbert.
Described by those who knew her as creative, loving, and adventurous, Jen lived by the words of John Geiger: "A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset." She loved being surrounded by fresh flowers with peonies being some of her favorites. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Jen's life was a testament to the beauty and adventure that she sought and found in the world. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the memories of her family, friends, co-workers, and all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to Jane's Room charity (https://janesroom.org/donate) in Jen's honor.

I will always remember her as the sister I always wanted, everything she ever taught me (which was a lot), going to concerts together, making art, living together, laughing together, and so much more. I love you, and Bentley and Rillo, and Addie, forever Jenn, and so does Kris, Joni, & Bella.
