A Life Remembered
Jeremiah David Morton, 33, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away on July 10, 2025. Jeremiah was a passionate entrepreneur, a gifted creative artist, and a beloved son, brother, and friend. He lived a life marked by purpose, curiosity, and a deep connection to nature.
Born at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio, on September 9, 1991, Jeremiah spent most of his life in Pickerington. He was cherished by his immediate family of seven, along with a large extended family, countless friends, and loyal clients who came to know his warmth, integrity, and genuine spirit.
Education & Early Life
Jeremiah attended Harvest Preparatory School from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 2012, while also completing coursework through Ohio Virtual Academy and Tiffin University. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Ohio Christian University in 2017, graduating with high honors.
Passions & Adventures
From a young age, Jeremiah showed an adventurous spirit and a love for wildlife. He participated in soccer and baseball throughout childhood and high school, and continued to play soccer recreationally as an adult. His zest for life led him to embrace mountain climbing, hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, skydiving, and fishing. He loved playing frisbee golf, tennis, basketball, gaming and paintballing with his siblings, cousins and countless friends. Miah was always up for a game of pickleball or euchre. He delighted in multi-generational family games that brought everyone together in laughter and friendly competition.
Professional Legacy
Jeremiah had an intense love for God's creation, especially seen in his devotion to Morton Whitetail Deer Farm, which he operated alongside his father, Steve. Together, they raised breeder bucks and prize does, building trusted relationships with clients for over a decade. Jeremiah's expertise extended across livestock management, breeding programs, animal husbandry, and veterinary care-skills he developed through hands-on experience and applied with both precision and compassion.
During college, Jeremiah launched Whitetail FX LLC, which grew into a thriving business with his brother Luke. He later founded WildFX, headquartered in Fredericksburg, Texas, where he became widely respected as the preeminent wildlife photographer, videographer, website designer, brand-builder and marketing consultant for ranchers across the state. His work combined technical mastery with reverence for nature, and his ability to tell stories through images earned him wide recognition.
Jeremiah's work took him across the U.S., with clients and projects in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Colorado, South Dakota, and Texas. His 2023 photography series from South Dakota is displayed at Avera Hospital. His photos were intense, unique, and captured the sweet magnificence of God's handiwork-both a reflection of his creative gift and the way he viewed the world.
He also developed websites and content for clients in the conservation and exotic wildlife industries, blending branding with breathtaking imagery. He contributed to national conferences, magazine covers, banners, and ads for years, including through his work with the North American Deer Farmers Association (NADeFA). One of his most recognized works-video footage of a rare quadruplet deer birth-garnered over 11 million views on Facebook.
Jeremiah truly lived out the verse his mother had long prayed over him and displayed on his bedroom bulletin board: "Jeremiah knows well the condition of his flock and gives attention to his herd." - Proverbs 27:23
Family & Faith
He is survived by his loving parents, Mary Ellen and Steve Morton (wife, Jana); his brothers, Luke and Nathan Morton; his sister, Katie Morton; his grandmothers, Donna Morton and Lenamae White; his aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Walter Morton and David White, and by his dear brother, Thomas Morton.
Faith anchored Jeremiah's life. He found strength and comfort in God's Word, especially in Psalm 31, a passage close to his heart. Below is a compact version of Psalm 31, reflecting the depth of his trust in the Lord:
Psalm 31 – The Passion Translation (Selected Verses)
1 Lord, I trust you and run to you for protection. Don't let me be disgraced. Save me in your justice!
2 Listen to me and come quickly to my rescue. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.
3 Yes, you are my rock and my fortress; honor your name by leading me out of this peril.
5 Into your hands I now entrust my spirit. O Lord, the God of faithfulness, you have rescued and redeemed me.
6 I despise these deceptive illusions, all this pretense and nonsense, for I worship only you.
7 In mercy you have seen my troubles and you have cared for me; even during this crisis in my soul I will be radiant with joy,
8 filled with praise for your love and mercy. You have kept me from being conquered by my enemy; you broke open the way to bring me to freedom, into a beautiful, broad place.
14 I'm desperate, Lord! I throw myself upon you, for you alone are my God!
16 My life, my every moment, my destiny-it's all in your hands. So I know you can deliver me from those who persecute me relentlessly.
21 Everybody knows what you can do for those who turn and hide themselves in you.
23 Oh, how great and glorious is your magnificent goodness as you overflow to all who seek you!
24 So take courage, all you lovers of God! Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting-for he will never disappoint you!
