Jerome "Jerry" P. White, Jr., 85, of Gillette, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on June 29, 2025.
Born in Rahway, NJ on July 5, 1939, Jerry was the son of the late Virginia (Felter) and Jerome Putman White, Sr. He spent his early years in Rahway before moving to New Providence, and eventually settling in Gillette, where he lived for over 50 years.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Japan as part of the Intelligence Unit. After his service, he became the longtime owner and operator of Village Coin Cleaners in New Providence, NJ, before retiring.
A man of deep faith and diverse interests, Jerry was a devoted member of the Fellowship Deaconry in Liberty Corner and was also part of the Tabernacle Community in Ocean Grove, where he sang in the choir-a reflection of his lifelong passion for music. He was an antique car enthusiast and a proud member of the Franklin Car Club. Jerry was also an avid reader and motorcycle enthusiast.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Kiyoko (Tuo) White; his sister Cynthia Hichens and her husband Martin; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, 1012 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hazelwood Cemetery in Rahway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, dedicated to the Choir at the Great Auditorium and Janes Memorial Tabernacle, P.O. Box 248, Ocean Grove, NJ 07756.
