Jerry Winston Chastain, 84, a resident of Charleston, passed away peacefully the morning of July 10, 2025 after a lengthy illness with his children by his side. He is the first-born son of Jeremiah Marshall Chastain and Verla Louise Prince Chastain who preceded him in death. He is a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1959 and lived his entire life in Bradley County, TN. He was retired from Combustion Engineering (ABB/Alstom) as a nuclear product engineer. Throughout the years, he enjoyed all things pertaining to woodworking and restoration. He was most passionate about making mountain dulcimers by hand specifically for his children and grandchildren who will cherish these forever.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Fay Chastain. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Dunwoody (Randy); his son, Ethan Chastain (Stacey); his sisters, Gladys Clayton and Janice Webb (Jesse); his brothers, Melvin Chastain (Carolyn) and Lynn Chastain; his grandchildren, Daniel Steven Dunwoody, Emily Ryann Dunwoody, and Madeline Grace Chastain; and great-grandson, Silas Aaron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jerry's home going will be celebrated Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home prior to the service.
