Graveside funeral services for Mr. Jerry Dwaine Newman, 70, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Adams Cemetery with Bro. Isaac Feltman officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Jerry Dwaine Newman was born January 19, 1955, in Duncanville, Texas. He passed this life peacefully at his Carthage, Texas home on July 22, 2025. Jerry was one of nine children born to the marriage of Ruthie Lee Foster and Allen Raybon Newman. He was raised across parts of East Texas and attended Carthage High School. He married Denise Myers Newman who preceded him in death on February 2, 2024. Mr. Newman worked as a sheet metal mechanic by trade but spent most of his years making aluminum purple martin birdhouses which can be found all over Panola County. He loved reading Louis L'amour books and fishing on the Sabine River. He was a devoted Christian and loved to witness to anyone he met. He is also preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Betty Marie Dalrymple, Allen Rabon, Jr. and infant sibling Johnny Lee. Mr. Newman is survived by his devoted children, Andrea Jeanne Williams and husband Jim of Longview, Allen Matthew Newman of Austin; siblings Gladys Jean McDonald of Carthage, Brenda Gayle Gibbs of Kilgore, Carolyn Kuntz of Hibbing, Minnesota, Steve Newman of Kusiosco, Mississippi, David Newman of Gulf Port, Mississippi; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family wishes to thank everyone for all the love and support they have shown during these trying times, and special thanks to Hospice of East Texas.
