Jesse Ray Evans, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on August 20, 1939, in East Bernard, Texas, and passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2025, in Jackson, Alabama. He lived a remarkable life, embraced by the warmth and love of family and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Fred and Emma Lou Evans; sisters Irma Lanier and Joan Jankowiak, great- grandson Hunter Watson, and many other family members.
Jesse dedicated 55 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Lennette Evans, with whom he shared countless adventures. He was a proud father to three daughters, Sheila Evans of Jackson, AL, Dawn (Mark) Watson of Needville, TX, and Sharilyn (Bill) Ivy of Conroe, TX, and a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren: Maggie (Joshua) Jones of Hurley, MS, Sarah Grace Jackson of Jackson, AL, Justin (Brittney) Watson of Plano, TX, Trey (Casey) Tice of Guy, TX, Dustin Ivy of Huntsville, TX, Dylan (Laura) Dorman of Crestview, FL, and Matthew Ivy of Conroe, TX.
His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy will live on through them.
Known for his love of the great outdoors, Jesse found immense pleasure in hunting and fishing-activities that brought him both tranquility and excitement. He grew up in Rosenberg, Texas, where he fostered his adventurous spirit. A skilled welder and dedicated truck driver, he worked tirelessly throughout his life and will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic and kind heart.
Jesse proudly served in the Army, exemplifying the values of service and commitment that defined his life. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Pallbearers for this heartfelt occasion will include Jimmy Dowling, Johnny Pace, Randall Pace, Lynn Pace, Ashley Wright, and Leonard Wright.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. A Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. Bro. Mike Ballard officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment at Stave Creek Baptist Cemetery, we invite all to join together to celebrate Jesse's remarkable journey through life. May his memory continue to inspire us as we honor the love he shared and the adventures he cherished.
