Jessie Ray Sanders "Ray", age 94 of Katy passed away June 20, 2025.
Ray was born on July 29, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jessie Lee and Ruby Alice (Purvis) Sanders. He graduated from Waller High School and spent the majority of his life working on ranches, whether as a dairy farmer or tending to beef cattle in Kurten, Texas. He also worked as a home contractor and loved woodworking.
Jessie met his wife, Etheline Derrich Sanders, and in September 2016, the two were married at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, Texas. Throughout their life together, they enjoyed attending church, spending time with family, listening to gospel and country western music, and relaxing with western movies. They were truly inseparable, sharing both their faith and everyday moments side by side.
Jessie is preceded in death by wife Alice Sanders; son Larry Sanders; siblings Bobby Hasty and Earline Simms; grandparents Bill and Jennie Purvis; Doris Sanders, Barbara Sanders, and Laverne Sanders.
Jessie is survived by wife Etheline; stepdaughters Brenda and Ronnie James, Pamela Callaway, Cynthia and Charles Dingas; nieces Vicky and Ken Standridge and Sherry Krob; great nephew Ronnie Standridge; and many stepgrandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held July 26, 2025 at 11:00am at Kurten Cemetery in Kurten, Texas.
The Sanders Family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Legacy at Falcon Point in Katy and Choice Hospice for the compassionate care and support shown to Ray and his family.
