Jesusa Cavazos, age 95, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Victoria, Texas. She was born on March 7, 1930, in La Villa, Texas, to the late Demetrio Castillo and Marcelina Medina.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, Jesusa lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, strength, and unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Cavazos, her daughter Sylvia Cavazos, her parents, and numerous brothers and sisters, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
She is survived by her loving children: Sylvia Soliz (Rudy) of Victoria, TX; Alex Cavazos (Jessica) of Victoria, TX; Ramon Cavazos (Kelly) and Randy Cavazos (Donna) of Cuero, TX; Eddie Cavazos of Dimmitt, TX; Joe Cavazos (Connie) of Victoria, TX; Rey Cavazos (Emma) of Victoria, TX; and Johnny Cavazos of Houston, TX. She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Ramona Pena (Joe) of Seattle, Washington.
Jesusa's legacy lives on through her 87 beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she held close in her heart.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Jesusa was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, where her devotion to prayer-especially the rosary-was a guiding light in her life and for her family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by a rosary at 8:15 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Cavazos, Nicholas Cavazos, Ramon Cavazos, Joe Cavazos Jr., Octavis Cavazos, Santiago Hernandez, Jonathan Cavazos, and Jonathan Cavazos Jr.
A special thank you from the Cavazos family to Harbor Hospice, Chaplain Rand, and her nurse Mrs. Janet.
Jesusa will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her strength of spirit, and the quiet wisdom she shared through her example. Her presence will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
