Jewel P. (Greene) Reynolds
The family of Jewel Reynolds respectfully announces her peaceful passing on July 13, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on October 10, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, to Chester and Josephine Greene, Jewel lived a rich and fulfilling life. As an accomplished singer and gifted pianist, Jewel brought music to life. From the recording studio to family gatherings, her talent lit up every room leaving hearts full and memories rich with joy.
Jewel shared 45 loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dr. William "Bill" Ward Reynolds. Together they raised five children, creating a home full of love, support, and unwavering commitment. Jewel's greatest joy was being surrounded by family-she infused their lives with tenderness, encouragement, and a steadfast heart that anchored them all.
Jewel graduated from Kenmore High School and earned a master's in education from Akron University. She was a devoted educator who taught subjects ranging from music to calculus during her 34-year career. She concluded her teaching career at Revere High School in Special Education, impacting the lives of countless students. Jewel also served on the Blick Clinic Board, providing leadership and compassion to those with developmental disabilities.
Jewel is survived by her children: Nancy Drees (David), Susan Foley (Shawn), Lisa Ramsey (Ken), and Bill Reynolds (Nico). She was a proud grandmother to Davey (Nicole), Emily (Leonard), Erin (John), Maddy, Michael, Kenny, and Katie, and a joyful great-grandmother to Lucille, Eleanor, and Tripp.
She is also survived by her sister and lifelong best friend, Margaret Rhodes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. William "Bill" Ward Reynolds and daughter Patricia Reynolds; her parents Chester and Joesphine Greene, her siblings and their spouses Chester Greene (Gwen), Anita Slawter (Jerry), and Milton Greene (JoAnn); in-laws Ernest and Lollo Ward Reynolds, and sister in-law Betty Reynolds Green.
Visitation hours will be held at Hummel Funeral Home, 2800 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio, on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., also at Hummel Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at Wauseon Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, 2355 2nd Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221, continuing Jewel's legacy of compassion and advocacy.
