James "Jim" A. Carlson, of
Braham, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. He was 86 years old.
Born on February 13, 1939, at the Braham Hospital, Jim was the son of Ray G. W. and Edythe (Anderson) Carlson. He grew up on the family farm with his sister Rita.
Jim attended school at Rice Lake Primary School and graduated from Braham High in 1956. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and taught for a few years in New Richmond, Wisconsin. He worked for the State of Minnesota, Jobs and Training for 40 years.
Jim married the love of his life, Beverly Hallin, in 1960, and they were blessed with three children, Brian, Julie, and Joni.
Jim had a passion for farming. He enjoyed raising crops, cattle, and many pets. He always had a project and a to-do list. If something was broken, Jim would fix it! He enjoyed operating anything with an engine. He continued farming with his son Brian until his passing.
Jim had a great sense of commitment to his faith, family, and friends. His proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a lifetime member of Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, confirmed in faith, and married. He was active on the church council and the Rice Lake Cemetery Board.
His dedication to the Braham community was evident through his service on the Braham School Board for many years. Being an avid supporter of the Braham Bombers, Jim and Bev attended many sporting and performing arts events. Jim and Bev volunteered at Braham Pie Day, the Braham Event Center, and various other events.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Edythe Carlson; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Lillie Hallin; brother-in-law, Gary Linders; and great-grandson, Logan James Bartes.
