Jim McNeill, born on June 15, 1941, in Abbeville, SC, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, in Jasper, GA, at the age of 83. An accomplished auto mechanic, Jim proudly served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. His passions were the simple pleasures in life. Jim's love for barbequing, gardening, and especially growing tomatoes, was only matched by his passion for the automotive field, enthusiastic racing fan and taught his children to drive anything fast.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man, treasured by his loved ones for his kindness, gentleness, and patience. His dedication to his family's happiness and well-being was his life's greatest work. Jim's warmth and spirit will be deeply missed, yet his legacy continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie McNeill.
Jim is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Hortensia McNeill; children, Andrea Naliwajka (Brad) and Patrick McNeill (Angie); grandchildren, Matt Naliwajka (Wiley), Ben Naliwajka, Chris Naliwajka, Nic Naliwajka (Ashley), Carly McNeill, Elizabeth McNeill and Colin McNeill; siblings, Tip McNeill Smith, Alfred McNeill (Linda), Ralph McNeill (Gwen), Oliver McNeill (Nina) and Anne Horton (Billy); as well as nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Dave Benson officiating.
