PORT BARRE- A Funeral Service will be held for Jimmy N. Grayson, Sr. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Port Barre. Pastor Joe Jenkins will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Palmetto Methodist Cemetery.
Jimmy N. Grayson, a beloved figure in the hearts of many, was born on August 14, 1947, in Woodside, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at The Calcutta House, surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy a proud Mason; he had a great love for gardening and enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting. Jimmy was a caring wonderful husband, father and Poppy. He had a big sense of humor, and you could count on him to always make your day brighter. Jimmy had a deep faith and love for his Savior Jesus Christ. He faithfully attended Port Barre First Baptist for many years. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and was employed by Sunland Construction for 35 years, where he was loved by all. Jimmy had a big heart for animals, and a very special love for his two dogs-Charlie and Eddie. Jimmy was married to the love of his life for almost 54 years, his “bae”. He will be greatly missed and leaves wonderful memories to be cherished.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carol Grayson; son, Jimmy Grayson, Jr. (Chrissy); daughters, Christal OPry (Michael) and Cindy Dimonde (Cody); brother, Michael Grayson; sister, Linda Luneau; 10 grandchildren, Nikki Marcotte, Zak OPry, Ashley G. Landreneau, Taylor Grayson, Courtney Grayson, Jill Dimonde, Adrianna Dimonde, Carli Dimonde and Mason Dimonde; 7 great-grandchildren, Caroline Dimonde, Luke Dimonde, Peach OPry, Lilah Brill, Kohen Chambers, Charlie OPry and Henry Opry.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Willy B and Martha Grayson; brother, Larry Grayson; sister, Martha Jean Grayson; his adored grandson, Cody Michael OPry (Sgt. OPry); and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of OPELOUSAS. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of OPELOUSAS.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Grayson, Jr., Zak OPry, Michael OPry, Mason Dimonde, Cody Dimonde, Jody Soileau and Wendel Walker.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Lafayette General ICU, especially his nurse Kara, as well as the staff and nurses at the Calcutta House.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in honor of Jimmy to the Calcutta House in Lafayette.
