Palmetto Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Fort MillJo Anne Meyer, 82, of Four Seasons in Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Jo Anne was born on September 29, 1942, and raised in Lynbrook, New York. She earned an Associate in Science degree from the State University of New York. Jo Anne married the love of her life, Robert L. Meyer, and together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on December 14, 2020. They made their home in Northern Virginia for over 50 years, where they raised their family and built lasting friendships.
Throughout her life, Jo Anne was dedicated to her family and her community. She was an active member of the Virginia Association of Legal Secretaries and was known for her professionalism, warm spirit, and genuine kindness. In her later years, Jo Anne made her home at Four Seasons in Fort Mill, South Carolina, where she continued to enjoy time with family and friends.
She loved being surrounded by family, reading, bowling, and playing bridge and Mahjong with her dear friends.
Jo Anne is survived by her loving children: Wayne Meyer and his wife Michelle Meyer, and their children Christian Meyer and Lauren Meyer; Douglas Meyer and his wife Dorothy Meyer, and their children Matthew Meyer, wife Brittany and Sara Busby, husband Matthew and grandchildren Zelda, James and Jude; Valerie Carroll and her husband Kevin Carroll, and their children Shea Carroll and Kian Carroll. She is also survived by her sister Eileen Bertuglia, her sister-in-law Janet Hofsted, and her cousin Beverly Rollack.
Jo Anne’s warmth, love, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
A joint service to honor both Jo Anne and her husband, Robert, will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on July 28th at 11:30 am.
A private service will be held for local friends and family at the Four Seasons clubhouse. Details to be determined and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Contributions to the American Heart Association or to organizations supporting veterans are especially appreciated.
