Joan Andresen (McMullen), of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the venerable age of 102. Born on April 1, 1923, in Pontiac, Michigan, Joan's life was a tapestry of dedication, kindness, and quiet strength that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
The cherished daughter of the late Claude and Nora McMullen, Joan learned the values of family and hard work from a young age. These values would become the cornerstones of her life and the legacy she leaves behind.
She attended schools in Ann Arbor and Pontiac and graduated from business school in Ann Arbor. She met her future husband I. Ralph Andresen while he was in the service and they were married on June 15, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Joan was an administrative assistant to a Colonel in the U. S. Army. She served on the board of directors of Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home in Port Huron for many years. Joan was a member of Port Huron Golf club for over 50 years and broke 90 three times for 18 holes of golf. She also was an avid bridge player.
Joan was actively involved in her community, where she formed lasting friendships and made significant contributions through her volunteer work. Her presence was a source of stability and compassion in the lives of many, and her influence extended far beyond the walls of her own home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan 48060. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Drew Hart will officiate.
