Joan Marie Cahill, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck after a short illness.
Joan was born on Sunday, June 16, 1940, in Sharon, Connecticut to Claude and Rebecca (Ferris) Burdick. She was raised in a loving family and graduated from the Pine Plains School in 1958. On May 28, 1960, in Clinton Corners, she married Donald Cahill. Joan went on to dedicate her career to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Kent Nursing Home in Kent, Connecticut, providing comfort and support to countless individuals throughout her tenure.
Joan was a woman of many interests and talents. She had a passion for knitting and cooking, often sharing her creations and delicious meals with loved ones. Her trips to Lake George and Florida were cherished adventures filled with joy and laughter. Joan also held a deep appreciation for Christmas and Easter. She will certainly be missed on Sunday’s when the family would all gather at her daughter Denise's house for “Sunday Services”, a time of food and fellowship. Her greatest joy in life, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald Cahill. Her three beloved daughters, Donna Cahill, Doreen Cahill - Fowler, and Denise Clair (Michael) who enriched her life with their presence. She will also be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren, Donald (Rebecca), Erin Fowler, David Kyle Fowler (Mariah), Allyssa (Eddie) Scheuner, and Michael Clair II. Her legacy of love extends further to her eight great-grandchildren: Donald, Saige, Luna, David, Quentin, Kaden, Remington, and Kingsley.
