Joan C. Mizner, 90, of Aledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by family at Unity Point Health - Trinity Rock Island.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private interment will be at the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to College Avenue Presbyterian Church 501 S. College Ave. Aledo, IL 61231 or American Kidney Foundation Kidney Fund 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852. Donations may also be left at Nichols Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services who is caring for Joan's family and arrangements.
Joan was born Tuesday, June 25, 1935, in Viroqua, WI. She was the youngest of five children of Joseph and Effie Phillips Johnson. She married Roy Mizner, Jr. on Saturday, August 31, 1957, at the College Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Joan worked various jobs during her life including Ben Franklin, childcare to a sweet boy, Brian; and as a cook and custodian at Apollo Elementary School, retiring in 1988.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roy; four children, Karen (Jim) Wheeler of Aledo, Dan (Karen) Mizner of Moline, IL, Beth Bridgford of Goodyear, AZ, and Kathy (John) Bohan of Flagstaff, AZ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses on the seventh floor of Trinity Rock Island Hospital for the great care that was given to our Mom.
