Joanne Thompson Myers, 90, left this earth on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, after a period of declining health.

She was born September 30, 1934, in Winooski, Vermont, to Howard and Beatrice (Blanchard) Thompson. Joanne proudly resided in Winooski for her entire life. She attended Winooski Schools, graduated from Winooski High School in 1952 and also attended UVM for 2 years. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald "Joe" Myers, on October 1, 1955, and together, they happily raised 6 children. Joe predeceased her on November 13, 2001.

She was a lifetime member of St. Stephen's Parish in Winooski until its closing. After 17 years as an at-home mom, she began her working career as an elementary school secretary for the Winooski School District for 21 years, retiring in 1994. She thoroughly enjoyed her time working in the schools. Later in life, she worked part-time for 9 years as the parish secretary for St. Stephen's Parish. In 1985, Joe and Joanne purchased and renovated their camp in Belvidere, Vermont, where they spent many hours creating happy family memories.

Joanne was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter (Mary-Lou Collins), her son-in-law (Dan Harris), her brother (Howard "Doe" Thompson) and his wife Gloria, Doe's first wife (June Beaudoin Thompson), all of Joe's siblings and their spouses. Surviving her are her remaining 5 children, Gerry (Lisa), Betsy Myers Harris, and Peter (Louise) of Winooski, Dan (Lori) of Colchester, and David (Laurel) of Emmett, Idaho; her son-in-law, Dale Collins (Jen); 12 grandchildren, Joe (Jill), Travis (Casey), Justin (Britni), Dorey (Joe), Lindsey (Dan), Mark (Chloe), Chelsea (Brenden), Adam, Casey (Chris), Evan (Daunte), Maddie, and Sam; 12 great-grandchildren and another one due in December, Cody, Olivia, Reid, Riley, Rowan, Emma Jo, Bailey, Jameson, Emma Joye, Tate, Weston, and Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former sister-in-law, Jean Myers.

At Joanne's request, there will be no visiting hours. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment for the family only will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery on Gorge Road in Colchester immediately following the funeral Mass.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Misty Woodard, Joanne's caregiver, for the many years of wonderful care and friendship, and the staff of the McClure Miller Respite House for the excellent care and compassion shown to Joanne during her last few weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Winooski Food Shelf, or the McClure Miller Respite House, or in lieu of a donation, simply do a good deed for somebody.
