On the evening of July 22, 2025, Joel Brett Owens, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in Fairfax, OK, at the Fairfax Behavioral Facility, at age 63.
Joel was born on December 21, 1961, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to James Everett Owens and Catherine (Friend) Schmitt. He grew up in Bartlesville and attended Bartlesville College High School.
Joel married the love of his life, Vickie Kleier, on March 16, 2006. The couple made their home at Hulah Lake, where they have lived for the past 24 years. Joel worked as a security guard at Spears Manufacturing Company in Caney, Kansas.
When Joel had free time, he had several interests to keep him busy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars. Joel was a loving and lively person that did not meet a stranger. He was fun-loving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed joking with people. He will be missed by all that loved him.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents: James Everett Owens and Catherine (Friend) Schmitt.
Those left to cherish the memory of Joel include his wife: Vickie Owens; his children: Jeremy Owens, Codi Owens, and Joel Owens, Jr; his grandchildren: Rafe Owens and Larkin Owens; and his brother: James “JB” Brent Owens, along with other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Joel at a later time. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesbartlesville.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home of Bartlesville.
