It is with profound respect and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joel Lynn Weekley II, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, Marine, Master Mason, and Pastor, who departed this life on July 25, 2025, at the age of 54.

Born on September 19, 1970 in Columbus, Joel lived a life defined by honor, service, and integrity. He answered the call to serve his country with unwavering commitment, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at a young age. Over his 4-year military career, Joel exemplified the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment, earning the respect of his fellow Marines and numerous commendations for his service.

Following his military career, Joel continued to lead by example in civilian life. He was a proud and active member of Guernsey Lodge 66, where he served the craft with humility, wisdom, and brotherly love as A Free Mason and Past Master. His devotion to Masonic principles-charity, truth, and the betterment of mankind-was evident in all he did. Whether mentoring younger brethren or lending a helping hand to those in need, Joel embodied the true spirit of Freemasonry.

Joel also served proudly as a Deputy Sheriff for the Muskingum County Sheriff's Dept. for many years. There he was active in patrol, corrections and the special response team. Joel also graduated from the Police Academy in 1992.

Joel walked a path of deep spiritual purpose as a devoted pastor. His ministry was a reflection of his heart - full of grace, wisdom, and love. He touched countless lives, through his preaching, mentorship, tireless work in the community, always leading by example with a servant's heart.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Judy (Knowlton) Weekley.

He is survived by his children, Kahley (Cody) Starcher of Charleston, SC and Joel Lynn Weekley III "Trey" of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and the light of his life, his grandson, William James Starcher. Joel also leaves behind his father, J. Lynn Weekley; a brother, Joshua Weekley; a sister, Jocelyn (Chad) Flowers; a nephew, Kahle Flowers; and two nieces, Jude and Maeve Flowers.

His legacy of strength, service, and compassion lives on in those who knew and loved him. Joel's warm smile, infectious laughter, and steadfast encouragement will be remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Memorial visitation hours will be held Friday (August 1, 2025) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, with Masonic services. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. A military graveside service will follow at Zion Cemetery, Cambridge, where Joel will be laid to rest with the respect and dignity he so richly earned.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Veterans' Organization in Joel's memory.

Semper Fidelis. So mote it be.
