March 18, 1948 - June 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John (Buck) Dale Robertson, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. John passed away on June 26, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Born in Lincoln, Illinois, John spent his youth in Mason City, Illinois, where he built the foundations of a life filled with curiosity and kindness. He spent most of his adult life in the unique community of Los Alamos, New Mexico, before moving to Albuquerque approximately nine years ago.
John was a man of many passions. He had a sharp and inquisitive mind, constantly engaged by the worlds of math and science. He loved the thrill of competition, whether it was playing pool, gambling, or meticulously managing his fantasy sports teams. John also had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel, especially to the Caribbean or the beaches of Mexico. He was always eager to explore new places.
He will be remembered for his wonderfully light-hearted nature and his ability to not let too many things bother him. John was kind to everyone he met and possessed a good sense of humor that could brighten any room. He shared a special bond with his brother, Darrell, whom he looked up to throughout his life.
John is now reunited with his beloved wife, Anne Valverde, who passed away a few years ago, and his stepson, Bill Valverde.
He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his five children, Brandi Williamson and husband Tim, Kara Robertson Gordon and husband Abe, Kyle Robertson and wife Katie, Kelly Bollin, and Kory Robertson, as well as his stepson Guy Valverde; and his cherished grandchildren, Ashton Lilley, Adam Oller, Amanda Romack, Bethany Quintana, Tyler Robertson, Alex Robertson, Josh Robertson, Mitchell Valverde, and Gabriel Valverde.
John’s warmth, intelligence, and easygoing spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
