John Burger, age 65, passed away on April 27th, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was diagnosed in December 2024 with a bilateral brain tumor that was aggressive and took him from us far too soon.
John was a devoted husband, father, and friend who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He never met a stranger and was known for being one of the most outgoing, funny, and compassionate people around.
He graduated from Tremper High School in Kenosha in 1978. During his high school years, he loved playing baseball and even played semi-pro, trying out for the Milwaukee Brewers. After he graduated, he worked for Johnson Motors and AMC. As he got older, he found his passion in trucking. He began working with construction dump trucks and cement trucks before eventually transitioning to driving semi-trucks. Over the course of his career, he logged over a million miles and dedicated his life to trucking to help support his family.
John's passions extended far beyond driving. He loved hunting and fishing and was outdoors whenever he could be. He caught lots of big fish and hunted deer across Wisconsin and Missouri. He had a deep love for country music and classic rock from the '70s and '80s. He also loved being a foster parent to the many children they took care of over the years. He loved animals but loved his family dogs the most. John never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special moment with his wife and daughters. He prayed to God every day and held his personal relationship with Him close to his heart.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Paula Burger of Edwards, MO; his daughters, Jennifer Dreikosen, Breanna (Mike) Scott and Emily Burger; his grandchildren, Trinity, Ella, Kye, Harmony, Bria, Malia, Masi, Shawn and Imari; his father, Richard Burger; his sister, Laura Amacher, and many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Burger.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church, 227 Simpson Drive, Climax Springs, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020 (573) 346-2090. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
