I was truly saddened to hear of John´s passing. He was a business associate of my dad´s, but he always felt more like an old family friend. It was always easy and natural to smile around John, and I can remember, even as a teen, that he seemed genuinely interested in what people had to say and made them feel valued. He was a really great guy and I´ll miss him.

I don´t remember when I met John but it was definitely as a tiny child. He worked with my father. He always made me feel valued even as a child. He was a warm, considerate, kind, empathetic and really lovely man. His energy was curious and friendly. He was smart and had a way of explaining accounting to me that never made me feel dumb when I went to work for my dad in my early twenties. Every time I knew I would get to see him made me happy as he was so easy going and had a big picture mentality. I always learned from him no matter what the subject was in conversation. He is family to me. I´m forever grateful he was in our lives

I met John through my father in law Paul Cutler 7 years ago.
I immediately felt like I had made a new friend. John was engaging and over the last years we talked for a long time and we shared many stories about cars, zippos, my artwork and his life history in DC and working with my father in law. I was lucky enough to travel to Lost River and visit a couple times there and see his lovely house, Javelin, as well as hear him play the organ. His talent blew me away. John would also travel to Fort Valley, VA and visit with my parents and we would look for orange jeeps online for him to possibly purchase. Everyone always enjoyed his visits and it is hard to think about there will not be another.
To Johns friends and family, I feel lucky to have spent the time I did with him. He was kind and a very important person to my father in law which made him family to us.
I am truly sorry for your loss.

I had the great pleasure of working with John through Zippo. A genuinely great and passionate guy, who was a delight to know.
