John Linwood Collind, 69, of Somersworth, NH, peacefully passed away on the night of June 25, 2025. Born on July 20, 1955 in Dover, New Hampshire, he was the beloved son of Eugene and Anita (Bowker) Collind.
John worked for a number of years as a tree cutter for Lucas Tree, fearlessly climbing even the tallest of trees.
Anyone who knew John, knew he had quite a sense of humor and although he may have looked tough and curmudgeonly on the outside, once you got to know him, you saw the real John, a tender man with a heart of gold who would do anything for those he cared for, especially his family and dear friends. In his spare time John enjoyed fishing, eating, and spending time with his family. He was an avid reader, and you would hardly ever catch him without a book in his hand. His cherished sister Barbara kept him well supplied in one of his other hobbies, crossword puzzles; often joking that he was knee-deep in crosswords.
John is predeceased by his parents, Eugene Franics Collind and Anita Bowker Collind, as well as his sister Stacia.
He is survived by his brothers Doug Collind and Glenn Collind; his sister Barbara Collind-Batson; his nieces Anastacia and Candee; his nephews Erik, Matthew, Myles, Andrew, and especially Bobby who was his closest friend and confidant; his best friend Tony Goodwin; and his trusty canine companion Winston.
John was a truly wonderful man, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. His loss has left a hole in the hearts of those who cared for him and whom he cared for deeply. His best friends will always remember him when they cast a line and fish at one of their favorite spots.
