John R. "Jack" Dewald, 95, of Brethren Village, formerly of Denver, PA entered into rest on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born Port Carbon, Schuylkill County, PA, he was the son of the late William and Clara (Schappell) Dewald. He was the loving husband of the late Peggy L. Dewald for 72 years at the time of her passing in 2023.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy and went on to work as a plumber and pipefitter for over 50 years with the Steamfitters Union Local 420. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and friend. Jack enjoyed camping and square dancing. He was also a 60-year life member of the East Cocalico Lions Club and was a faithful and active member of Faith United Lutheran Church (formerly St. John's Lutheran) in Denver.
Jack is survived by 3 children: Jamie, wife of Bruce Carpenter of Reamstown; Joyce, wife of Stan Care of Shillington; Jill, wife of Scott Alleman of Lititz; a son-in-law, Terry Burkholder, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, with one on the way. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Burkholder and 4 siblings.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Faith United Lutheran Church, 357 Walnut St., Denver, PA on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, Peter's Porch (at the above church address), or East Cocalico Lions Club, P.O. Box 166, Reamstown, PA 17567.
