John L. Ferrick, Sr., age 79, passed away on April 28, 2025 with family at his side. A resident of Trillium Place since he suffered a stroke in March of 2021, he formerly lived in West Hempfield Township.
He was a graduate of McCaskey High School Class of 1963. An electrician by trade, John retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1999. In his younger years, he played in a men's softball league for Ted Mertz, and in the Armstrong softball league. He also played basketball for the Armstrong Mechanical team. John enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was an avid Penn State, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Vicki L. (Hall) Ferrick in 2013 after 49 years of marriage, his parents and his infant sister Betty Jane. He is survived by his daughters Deborah Zercher (J. Michael) and Brenda Hengst; his son John L. Ferrick, Jr. (Lisa), his grandchildren: Nicole Young (Michael), Adrienne Mannino (Michael), John L. Ferrick, III (Ashley), Derek Zercher, his great granddaughters Maddelena Mannino and Emilia Mannino; his two brothers Jay Ferrick (Paddy) and James Ferrick, and two sisters Shirley Whitaker and Judy Whitaker.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3825 Concordia Road, Columbia, PA 17512 at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, or Trillium Place Benevolent Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 would be greatly appreciated.
