John C. Geddes, 63, of North Smithfield, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday May 7, 2025 at home surrounded by family.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Frank and M. Cecile (Byron) Geddes. He resided in North Smithfield for the past four years, previously residing in Cumberland. After completing educational programs in Cumberland, he participated in Seven Hills RI adult programs.
From his early years, he enjoyed family time, especially Christmas and his birthday. He loved music. Frankie Valli, James Taylor and Elvis were a few of his favorites. He could always be found on the dance floor at a wedding or Friday night dances at Fabien Street. He enjoyed bowling with friends, golfing, and dining at different restaurants. He enjoyed Sundays with his sister and brother in law. His clothes and room reflected the sports team in season, whether it be Patriots, Red Sox or Pawsox.
He leaves his sisters Kathleen Darby and husband John, Rosemary Crozier and husband Robert, and brother Robert Geddes and wife Janice, all of Cumberland and Bernadette Andrews and husband Edward of Lincoln as well as several nieces and nephews he considered "his kids." He is survived by his many friends, housemates and the staff of Seven Hills programs.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to John's Life Celebration to be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. The family will receive guests at church 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Hope Hospice especially Ashley and the north team and the outstanding staff at his Pound Hill Road home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
We love you, John! We will miss you forever.
