John "Jack" Michael Geraghty, age 68, of Park Ridge, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer on October 14, 2025.
Adoring husband of Peggy (née O'Shea) for 38 wonderful years. Loving dad to Daniel (Lauren) Geraghty, Kelly (PJ) Sebby, and Timothy Geraghty. Proud papa to Makenzie and Fiona Sebby, Emma and baby boy Geraghty.
Cherished son of the late John "Jack" and Donna Geraghty, and adored son-in-law of the late Edward and Irene O'Shea. Treasured brother to Colleen (Michael) Lowery, Daniel (Diane) Geraghty, Mary Geraghty, Patrick (Kathleen) Geraghty, Eileen Brassil, Kathleen (Nigel) McGrath and Thomas (the late Alesa) Geraghty. Dear brother-in-law to Patrica (Dean) Manor, Sharon O'Shea, Maureen (Robert) Hillmann, Kevin (Debra) O'Shea, the late Sheila O'Shea, Timothy (Jennifer) O'Shea, and Patrick Brassil. Devoted uncle, cousin, and loyal friend to many.
Jack was born in Chicago, IL. He attended St. Priscilla and St. Patrick High School. He was a proud member of the Chicago Board of Trade for many years before retiring in 2021. Jack made lifelong friends everywhere he went, and his colleagues at the Chicago Board of Trade were like family to him. He shared so many fond memories of his days on the floor. He worked hard for his family, and we couldn't be prouder of his accomplishments.
Family and friends meant everything to Jack. He was the kind of man who showed up, stayed true, and never let you forget how much you mattered. He is leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, loyalty, and unforgettable stories. Whether he was cheering on the Chicago Cubs or talking sports with friends and family, his passion was infectious. The world was a better, warmer, and funnier place with Jack in it; we are lucky to have shared 68 incredible years with him.
Jack cherished his role as a husband, dad, and papa. His favorite moments were spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. That was his happy place, surrounded by the people he loved, laughing, reminiscing, and simply enjoying life together.
Jack will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated. His memory will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Rest in Peace, Dad. You fought a tough battle and now you can rest. Thank you for being the best husband, dad, and papa, we will miss you every day. We will carry you with us always-in everything we do, in the way we live, and in the love we give. We love you, Dad.
Visitation Thursday October 23, 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge.
The family asks that friends meet at St. Juliana Church Friday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. for a celebration of Jack's life. Interment private.

I graduated with Jack in 1975 from St. Pat's. Jack was always a great guy with a HUGE heart of gold. When I went to his service yesterday, I was impressed that hundreds and hundreds of people attended his service. His legacy is his kindness and friendship. Jack you will be missed David Tucci
