John Stephen Kirk, 78, a resident of the Cedar Mills community, passed away peacefully at his home on June 17th, 2025. John was born on December 14th 1946 in Minneapolis, MN to John and Lucille Kirk. He was the oldest of five children. He was raised in Sioux Falls, SD and attended Sioux Falls high school graduating with the Class of 1964. In October of 1967 he enlisted in the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. After one tour he was honorably discharged on 5-14-69. Following the war John met and then married Teri Augustus on 11-21-1970 in Wishram, Wa. They made their home in Hillsboro, Or and had three children together, Marcie, Mindy and John L. Teri preceeded John in death on 4-3-1983. John met his current wife, Alexa Bukosky through work as he was a salesman for Shaw Surgical and Alexa was an R.N. They soon began dating and married July 21st, 1984 in Beaverton, Or. where they made their home together in the Tanasborne area until 1988 when they moved to Cedar Mills. John and Alexa had one child together, Saryn. Being an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer he loved Oregon and the opportunities it afforded him to pursue these interests. He was active in the 20-30 Club, Ducks Unlimited, and a member of the men's golf club @ Sunset Golf. Family was always important to him as well as his Golden Retriever's which were his constant companion's. John is preceded in death by his wife, Teri and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Alexa of the family home and their four children and spouses, Marcie and Keith Keylock, of Beavercreek, Or., Mindy King of Portland, John L. Kirk and his companion, Tiffani Williamson of Beaverton, Saryn and Michael Nash of Vancouver, Wa., four siblings and their spouses, Judy and Michael Schroeder of Minneapolis, Mn., Jeri and Denny Hoffman of Sioux Falls, SD., Jamie and Bob Albright of Georgetown, Tx., James and Rosalind Kirk of Flagstaff, Az. Also surviving are nine cherished grandchildren, Kyleigh, Mady, Anna & Kortney, Lindsey, Zander, Jax, Zoey and Maisey & two Golden Retrievers, Finn and Ty. In lieu of flowers the family is planning a donation to the Sauvie Island wildlife refuge.
