John Dale Kisner, 78, of Oakland, passed away on June 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on January 15, 1947, in Vindex, he was the son of the late James Franklin Kisner and Luvada Frances (Dunithan) Kisner Rinker.

John was a dedicated pressman at the Oakland Republican newspaper for over two decades, where his steady hands and keen eye ensured the presses ran smoothly, delivering news to the community he cherished. Beyond the ink-stained world of print, he lent his skills to construction, working for Doerr, PCM, and RPM, building not just structures but a legacy of hard work. A proud veteran, John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, later finding camaraderie as a member of VFW Post 10077. Known for his quiet, soft-spoken demeanor, he could light up a room with his quick grin and booming laugh, embodying the essence of a loyal best friend. In his free time, John found solace in woodworking, casting lines while fishing, and cherishing moments with his family, where he was a devoted and loving father.

He is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Shirley Jean Warnick; former wife Carla Anne Hyson, their daughters, Chrissa Kisner and life partner Craig Shafer, Michelle Kisner, and Amanda Kisner; Shirley's children, Ronald Warnick Jr. and wife Tracy Keplinger, Tonya Warnick and husband Jimmy Collins, and Jason "Buck" Warnick and wife Bobbie Reid; four grandchildren, Marcella Carolanne Maiers, Matthew Dwight Cameron Maiers and wife Cierra Reillye Kendall Maiers, Isys Jara Rushin Kisner, and Andrew Casimir Rushin Kisner; one great granddaughter, Baylee Marie Maiers; seven siblings, Loretta DeWitt, Jean Miller, George Paugh, Marry Ellen Brown, Roy Stickley, Melody King, and Debra Barber; along with numerous nieces, nephews and foster children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, James Kisner, David Dunithan, Joseph Trumble, and Helene Paugh DeBoe.

John's request for cremation was honored. A service has not been scheduled at this time.

The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland Chapel is honored to be serving the Kisner family.
