John Robert Krukowski, 68, passed away on July 14, 2025, in St. Joseph, Michigan. Born on August 25, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, John was a lifelong Midwesterner whose warmth and kindness touched many throughout his life.
The son of the late Anthony and Mary (Tuka) Krukowski, Sr., John grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. He went to Dowagiac High School and remained connected to his roots in Michigan and Illinois throughout most of his life.
John is remembered fondly by his siblings: Darlene (Ed) Waldschmidt, Donna (Jerry) Dodd, Deborah (Andy) Merrill, Anthony (Lisa) Krukowski Jr., Robert Krukowski, Mary (John) Scapino, and Denise (Chuck) Sobieski. His extended family includes a wide circle of nieces and nephews who brought joy to his life: Edward Waldschmidt Jr., Tina (Dennis) Wimberley, Kenneth (Dixie) Dodd, Jerry (Lynn) Dodd, Debra (David) Ironside, Chad (Sara) Tyrakowski, Chris (Jeff) Kroepel, Toni (Matt) Watters, Aaron (Heather) Krukowski, Ryan Krukowski, Kyle (Ashley) Krukowski, Robert Krukowski Jr., Kristy Krukowski, Jason Krukowski, Mary (Garrick) Eccles, John (Laura) Scapino III, Michael (Chelsea) Scapino, Charles (Amanda) Sobieski Jr., and Cynthia (Jordan) Huey. He also leaves behind a multitude of great- and great-great-nieces and nephews who will carry forward memories of their uncle.
John was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Chester Tyrakowski Jr.
Known for his kind nature and generous spirit, John made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. He resided with his brother, Bob, for the last two years and Bob and his family were a constant help for John. His quiet strength and gentle demeanor were hallmarks of a life lived with compassion.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
