John Joseph "Jack" McDonald, Jr., 97, of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 2, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, to John and Francis McDonald, Jack was a graduate of Northeast Public High School and LaSalle College, and a proud U.S. Army veteran. He was a devoted husband to the late Virginia "Jean" McDonald (née Dunn), with whom he shared 57 loving years of marriage. The McDonald family were long time residents of Cinnaminson, NJ.
Jack was the beloved father of Denise Mealey, Virginia Volpe (Ernie), John McDonald (Deneen), and Jacqueline McDonald (William Shiminske). He was a cherished grandfather to Evan, Ryan, Jack, and Teagan. He was predeceased by his siblings Edmund McBride, Leonard McBride, Rita Saybolt, and Eugene "Gene" McDonald, as well as his sister and brother in law Teresita and Don Durkin. He will be deeply missed by his brother in law, Tom Dunn, and his nieces and nephews.
For many years, Jack owned and operated Menchel-McDonald Furniture in Pennsauken, NJ, with his business partner, Norman Menchel. He loved vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, and spent many joyful days boating on the Sassafras River.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment with military honors will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, where Jack will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the St. LaSalle Auxiliary, P.O. Box 238, Lincroft, NJ 07738-0238, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or by planting a tree in his honor from this website.

Virginia - Very sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. I have requested a Sanctuary Candle be lit for 8 days in your Father's memory in the Chapel of the Dominican Monastery, Summit, NJ. The Dominican Sisters are a cloistered order of Nuns dedicated to The Holy Rosary. Your Father has joined your Mother in heaven and together they are watching down over your entire family with love and pride. Be strong and hold steady.
