John Michael McGuire, 67, of Somers, IA, died Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Somers Community Building, 702 7th Street – Somers, IA 50586. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
John was born January 1, 1958, in Fort Dodge, the son of James and Joan Francis (Bird) McGuire. He graduated from Somers High School in 1976, and was a Custom Harvester for 40+ years. On February 16, 1996, he was united in marriage to Velma Eileen (Rexroat) in Rockwell City, IA. John enjoyed hunting and fishing.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years: Eileen McGuire of Somers; his mother: Joan McGuire of Fort Dodge; 2 children: JD Jackson and wife Corinne of Gowrie, IA and Nate Jackson and wife Kasey of Farnhamville, IA; 3 grandchildren: Zack (Lola), JaiCe and Camryn; 4 siblings: Julie Walstrom and husband John of Manson, IA, Jeff McGuire and wife Teri of Farnhamville, Jerry McGuire and wife Lisa of Farnhamville, and Joe McGuire of Gowrie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father: James McGuire.
