84, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 18, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Rachel L. (Craig) Paoletta. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Carmella (Loreno) Paoletta.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his loving children, Daughter Tina Dumas and her husband Andrew, both of Cranston and son Anthony Paoletta of Johnston; cherished grandchildren Katherine, Andrew, Tierney and Philip; dear siblings Beverly Plante, Richard Paoletta, and the late Janet Bowser, Ida Pearson, Clementina Zoglio, Angelo Paoletta and Joseph Paoletta. He also is survived by his beloved sister in law Muriel Craig and favorite puppy Maci.
John was an Industrial Arts teacher for 33 years before his retirement. He graduated from the University of Miami and Rhode Island College where he received a Master's Degree of Education. He was also a very proud U.S. Navy Seabee serving in Greece, Spain and Italy. John placed a great deal of value in family. It was important to him that he treat others with compassion and respect, resulting in many acts of kindness over the years. In his free time he enjoyed playing the accordion, watching sports, gardening, woodworking projects and riding in his 1939 Model-A antique car.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Philip's Church, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will take place in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
