John David Smith, 74, of Mena, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born on October 3, 1950, in Eudora, Arkansas, to D.W. Smith and Mary Francis Smith, John David lived a life marked by hard work, a deep connection to the outdoors, and unwavering devotion to his family.
John David was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Breanna Allen; his parents, D.W. and Mary Francis Smith; his sisters, Mary Ruth Magbee Hargrove and Joyce Horn; and his brothers, Byron Smith and Daniel Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Renea Allen, and her husband, Steve; his grandson, Dakota Allen, and his wife, River; his brother, Wayne Smith, and his wife, Stephanie; his sister, Carolyn Edwards, and her husband, Robert; along with a host of cherished nieces and nephews. John was a lifelong member of the Masonic lodge. A skilled welder, pipeliner, and welding inspector, John David took great pride in his craft, bringing dedication and precision to his work. In his free time, he found joy in fishing, tending to his cattle, cutting and baling hay, and camping under the open sky. His love for the land and its simple pleasures left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
John David's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever treasure his kindness, strong work ethic, and passion for life. Services to celebrate his life will be held, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Beasley-Wood Chapel, in Mena, Arkansas. Brother Wayne Smith will be officiating under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cherry Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, one hour prior to services, at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers are Dakota Allen, Bobby Blackwell, Stan House, Jim Brett, Jamie Williams, and Lonnie Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are William Bradford, Steve Allen, Ethan Smith, and Gary Bradford.
