Mr. John "Fred or Muddy River" Stagg, 60, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, July 20, 1964, to the late John E. and June Stagg. He retired as a Self-Employed truck driver. He enjoyed working on and operating CB's and HAM Radios, under the handle of "Muddy River". He served as a Firefighter for over 22 years with both Matherville Volunteer Fire Department and Wayne County Fire Department.
Mr. Stagg is preceded in death by his parents, John E. and June Stagg; sister, Carolyn Stagg. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Katie "Kathy" Stagg of Waynesboro, MS; stepson, Aaron Speed of Lucedale, MS; stepdaughter, Ashley Lindsey of Waynesboro, MS; three nephews, John David Stagg (Katie), Adam James, and John James; four step grandchildren; two great nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Waynesboro First Methodist in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Ron Stanley officiating. Interment will be in Geneva-Horne Cemetery in Matherville, MS.
