Memorial Service for Johnny Tims will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Arrangements are with Sevier Funeral Home.
Bro Johnny Tims passed from this life on Friday, June 13, 2025 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 86. Johnny was born on July 31, 1938 in Kermit, Texas to Aubrey and Effie Tims.
Johnny Tims accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1956 and was ordained to preach in 1957. He graduated from Bledsoe High School in 1957. Johnny attended and graduated from Eastern New Mexico State University and graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary in 1964.
Bro Johnny married the love of his life, Pearl Baird on September 1, 1957, just three weeks before her 17th birthday. They were married for 67 years before her passing on September 30, 2024. They both served the Lord in Ministry together throughout their entire marriage. Pearl was beside Johnny the entire time. They were blessed with four children, Steve, Tammy, Veldon, and Trena.
Preaching and teaching were Brother Johnny's passion and he pastored churches for over 50 years. He discovered a new passion for the care of hospice patients and served as chaplain with Lifeline Hospice for several years after his retirement from full time ministry.
Bro Johnny had a saying "you never retire from serving the Lord" and he lived this out every day of his life as he ministered to so many families. His gift of loving people to Jesus was evident in everything he did all of his days.
He was truly larger than life and known for his amazing hugs and the gift of making everyone feel special.
He is preceded in death by his precious wife, Pearl (Baird) Tims; and his parents, Aubrey and Effie Tims; and brother, Robert Tims.
Johnny's loved ones left to remember him include his children, Steve Tims and wife Alana, Tammy Tims and husband Jeff Janicek, Veldon Tims and wife Tara, Trena Pitts and husband Johnny; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
