It was an honor to care for Mr. Jon P. Wing both at the University of Maryland Medical Center and in his home. He was a soft-spoken, kind, and gracious man whose presence brought peace and warmth to those around him. His passing breaks my heart, but I will always cherish the memories we shared.
To Mrs. Kathy Wing, your compassion and hospitality were deeply touching. The love and care you showed him were a true testament to your bond.
Please accept my deepest condolences. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace, and may you find comfort in the love that surrounds you.
With sympathy,
Glory

Very saddened by his death. I always enjoyed working with Jon on various proposals. He was tough but fair and his efforts were always well organized. Rest is peace Jon.

I was a huge supporter and fan of Jon while together "in the penal colony" known as Middle River"! We spent many nights working late in the mods on so many different VLS related opportunities. You couldn´t have found a better person to be teamed together with than Jon! So many fond memories from the years we worked together! Lots of long hours working but such great memories and success for that time together!

I've never known anyone quite like Jon. We spent many years working together at Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin and afterward as well, and many years as friends. Tons of happy memories, especially many years as season ticket holders for the Baltimore Ravens. I will miss him more than words can say.

Jon was roommates first semester with Al Wheeler, Steve Wessel and me. He always had that slightly crooked grin. He was exceedingly polite. He would very often put his gigantic hand firmly on my shoulder and say, "Pete, you already told that story." Looking through the yearbook, Jon was a member of at least half of the clubs and organizations at Maine Maritime. In the candid photos, he almost always had a beer in his mitt. And of course that straight-at-you-gaze and grin that looked like it was just about to get bigger, like he was holding back a bit. At the time I didn´t realize that Jon and most of the rest of our classmates were living it up while they had the chance before taking their cherished new knowledge and experience out into the world to make a good living for themselves and family. And then you guys went out and did just that. Moving the biggest ships afloat around the world and becoming top dogs in huge corporations. I just thought we were a bunch of goofy college kids. Then you guys went out and proved yourselves capable of anything. Proud to know you all. Grateful to have had even the short time we had together. Good ole´ Jon Wing!

So many wonderful memories of Jon. We grew up together in Scarborough, Maine from elementary school to graduation with the Class of 1970. He was like the big brother I never had and I will miss him. My heart goes out to you Kathy. I hope you will find peace in the days ahead. I believe that the grief we feel when we lose someone is the coin we pay for the great joy of having had them in our lives.

Jon was a wonderful friend in our high school years, and I know that he thoroughly enjoyed his yearly reunions with his close classmates. He certainly lived an accomplished life that touched so many people and he will be highly missed. Our condolences to his wife, family, and close friends.

I was a 1974 MMA classmate of Jon's and a friend. From the time I first met Jon in Castine during our 1st year (MUG year) it was clear that Jon at 18 years old had the maturity and self-confidence of a 35 year old - much more than the rest of us! Jon was always "fun" to be around and got me into trouble numerous times! I'm only sad that Jon could not make up to our 50th MMA reunion last Fall - I was greatly looking forward to seeing him again. Please do let me know when and where the Celebration of Life will take place was I would very much like to attend.
