Jose Manuel Garcia, age 87 of Nambe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A devoted husband, father, cherished grandfather and great grandfather beloved brother, caring uncle and loyal friend, Manuel leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and unwavering compassion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio Garcia and Pacifica Garcia; grandson Walter Roybal; brothers, Deacon Pete Garcia, Sam Garcia; sisters Elisaida Trujillo and Marian Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years MaryAnn Garcia; son Anthony Garcia (Pam); daughter Donna Roybal (Richard); grandchildren Michael Garcia (Savina), Daniel Roybal (Sylvia), Kevin Roybal, Leslie Martinez (Martin); great-grandchildren Vivian Garcia, Marisol Giron, Isiah, Jeramiah, Matthew, Aubrie Roybal, Adam, Austin and Joshua Martinez.
Manuel Garcia spent 30 years working for Los Alamos National lab as a property specialist. His passion was being a director for Jemez Coop. He was so proud when the family joined him for the annual meeting in La Cueva. He was also a member of the local chapter of the S.P.M.D.T.U.
He spent all his free time with the love of his life, his sugar (MaryAnn). Manuel loved sharing the history of Nambe with his children their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the memories of playing basketball and running track (State Champion 880-yard run) for Pojoaque High School. Manuel enjoyed raising sheep in the place he loved Nambe, NM. In his early years while working for Louise Trigg Mckinney he raised Prize winning Aberdeen Angus cattle at the New Mexico state fair. His Grand Champion of course was named Nambe. He loved his flowers. They were his babies through the summer. He enjoyed weaving ristras and was good at it.
A Viewing will take place at 5:00 PM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church in Nambe, NM, with a Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Nambe, NM, with burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Nambe, NM.
Serving as Pallbearers are Michael, Pam Garcia and Richard and Kevin Roybal.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Romero, Robert Garcia and Chendo Roybal.
Special Thanks to Mary Frances Gomez, Sombrillo staff, Amber Care and his nurse Sheryl Doughtery.
