Jose “Joe” Valente Naranjo, age 90, went home with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born in La Sauces, Colorado on May 21, 1935. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from May 1954 through April 1975. A Vietnam War veteran, he dedicated over two decades of his life to military service. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he earned his Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees while working full time for the State of Florida Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole. He retired as a Senior Supervisor after 22 years of service.

Joe was a man of deep faith, warmth, and kindness. He served the Lord, teaching Bible classes at the House of Saint Joseph where he was a founding member. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic minister as well as an Acolyte. He was a devoted member of Saint Sylvester Catholic Church, and his faith shaped every part of his life, inspiring those around him.

Above all, Joe was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Kuniko “Kathy” Naranjo, with whom he shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. His family remembers him not only for his strength and generosity but also for his playful sense of humor. He had a gift to make others laugh with his lighthearted spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Guellermo Naranjo and Maria Juana Marquez Naranjo. He was the youngest of 11 children. He is survived by his wife, Kuniko; son Kenneth Naranjo and his wife Jean; daughter Karen Naranjo Poole and her husband Gary; granddaughter Jennifer “June” Poole; grandson Geoffrey Poole and his wife Rachael; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Adeline and Fletcher.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and joyful presence leave a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on July 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Saint Sylvester Catholic Church, Navarre, Florida.
