Jose Peña, Jr., age 67, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Friday, April 25, 2025, at his home in Faribault, Minnesota. He was born on December 9, 1957, in Plainview, Texas, to Jose Peña, Sr. and Natividad (Garza) Peña. Jose worked for many years as the field project supervisor in the welding departments at JBT and Ashworth, where he ultimately retired. He traveled to many countries during his employment at these two companies.
Jose was a part of ICV (In-Country Veterans as a Supporter) Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, fixing things that were broken, mowing, taking care of his lawn, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, and spending time outside as much as he could when it was warm. He was known for his love of playing cribbage, often outplaying friends and family with his remarkable luck at the game and enjoying every moment of it. Jose loved to watch movies, was a homebody, and spent time with his friends playing pull tabs. He also enjoyed watching wildlife, especially the big eagle near his home. Jose was a devoted friend and family member and was always very supportive. He would do anything he could to help those around him. Jose took great care of his mom and visited her every weekend.
Jose is survived by his mother, Natividad Peña of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; children, Christina (Doug Godfredson) Peña of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Joe Angel Peña, of Minnesota, Eric Peña of Big Lake, Texas, and Adam Peña of Faribault, Minnesota; grandchildren, Maxx Godfredson, Jordan Lehrer, and Leon Peña; great-grandchild, Rose; siblings, Henry Peña of Houston, Texas, Andres Peña of Plainview, Texas, Ramon (Annette Blazer) Peña of Owatonna, Minnesota, Felix (Diana) Peña of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Nick Arrizola, of Austin, Minnesota. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose Peña, Sr., and sister, Margaret (Augustine) Peña Reyna.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery, Blooming Prairie. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
