Joseph Bradley Davidson – September 23, 1944 - July 31, 2025

Joe will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones. After his retirement, he found great joy and peace working outside. He enjoyed running a sawmill, farming, and gardening in which he did up until his sickness got the best of him. As long as he was working, he was happy; diabetes, kidney failure were not going to hold him down as long as he was alive. He proved that by working until the very last day.

Joe spent most of his young life in Blackwater, Virginia where he was known as "JB". He traveled there weekly to spend time with his precious 100 year old mother in which he adored, plus many other family and friends whom he cherished. The rest of his time he spent with his loving wife, Dorothy, in Church Hill, surrounded by friends who felt like family. In his tight knit circle of family and friends, they helped each other and laughed with one another. They truly had a community of love.

As a United States Army veteran, Joe proudly and honorably served his country for 36 years. He served during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm, in which he served with the 1033 Transportation Unit. Joe also retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 31 years of dedicated service. He made lifelong friends from the military and from Eastman. Joe's dear friend, Phil Bricky, was his sidekick at Eastman and his military term. Now they can enjoy heaven together with rest and peace.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Estel Davidson; stepson, Mark Anthony Hood; and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Lois Bledsoe. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, in which they shared precious memories together for 42 years; mother, Ella Davidson Hall; daughter, Crystal Edens and husband, Phil; stepson, Allen Hood and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Caleb Edens and wife, Kristen, Joe's "little partner in crime" - Sierra Edens and fiancé, Ethan Jones, and Jessica Peters; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Potts and husband, Aaron, and Destiny Pierce; brothers, James Davidson and wife, Mary Ruth, and Jack Davidson and companion Karen; sister, Sue Edwards; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Joe was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, where he enjoyed spending time with his beloved church family and worshipping his Jesus. He had a special bond with his late pastor, Pastor Andy Sensaball, who he treasured until his death.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to Freedom Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Church Hill on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Troy Daily officiating. Chris Holder and Ed McClain will be providing special music. Graveside services will be held at Church Hill Memory Gardens on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 am with Pastor Robert Slone officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.

I got to know Joe and Dorthy for a short time . They dearly loved each other by their actions and the way Dorthy would look out for Joe during his sickness. Joe was a Great Guy who loved life and his wife most of all ! May the lord comfort the family and be with them during this difficult time .

Praying for the Family,
Jeffery Fraysier

We go way, way back. He used to carry me a little girl home from church. He gave me a pink bill fold that I kept for years. Will never forget him.
