Joseph Augustine Henry, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born on January 4, 1941, in Sunset, Louisiana, Joseph lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.
Joseph began his professional journey in the commercial linen industry, where he cultivated a reputation for reliability and excellence. His meticulous attention to detail and steadfast work ethic made him a valued member of every team he joined. Over the years, he played a vital role in ensuring that businesses received the high-quality service they depended on daily. His pride in his work and commitment to doing things right earned him the respect of both colleagues and clients.
Later in life, Joseph transitioned into the field of security—a natural extension of his disciplined nature and deep-rooted desire to serve others. He brought the same integrity and vigilance to this new role that had defined his earlier career. His calm demeanor and dependable presence made him a trusted figure wherever he worked. After his time with Bates Security, Joseph continued to serve as a security officer at St. Paul AME Church until his health no longer allowed.
Joseph’s life was not only defined by his work but also by the warmth he shared with those around him. A kind-hearted man who always wanted to see others happy, he found joy in conversation, especially when it came to sports or world events. He was an avid fan of basketball and football and could often be found cheering on his beloved Houston Rockets and Texans.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Alice Rubin; son Kevin Baker Sr. (Edrina); daughters Stephanie Baker and Keya Henry; brother John Henry (Barbara Ann); sisters Edna Murphy, Sylvia Harris, and Victoria Henry; grandchildren Kevin Jr., Ungelica, Rylee, and Rodney; and great-grandchildren Chance, Brooklyn, and Reagan.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Annie Bell Henry; sisters Lacy White, Deloris Murphy, and Helen Carter; and son Michael Henry.
Joseph Augustine Henry leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, and compassion. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
