Danville – Joseph J. Lamonica Jr., 78, of 475 Sharp Ridge Road, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
He was born on July 29, 1946, in Reading, the son of Joseph J. Lamonica Sr. and Jenny (Weikel) Lamonica.
Joseph was a proud United States Army veteran. On October 3, 1977, he married the former Sandra E. Wolfgang in the home they shared and where they resided for the past 30 years. He worked as a truck driver and was both an owner and operator. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards for safe CDL driving.

Joseph loved children and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. A natural entertainer, he enjoyed making others laugh. He also took pleasure in woodworking and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Sandra E. Lamonica of Danville; a daughter Karen Scheuermann and husband, Joseph of Paxinos; two sons, Joseph J. Lamonica III of Shamokin and Christopher Lamonica of Capy May County, NJ; a sister, Grace Folini and husband, Ben of Mohnton; seven grandsons, Ashley Lamonica, Roland Lamonica, Todd Scheuermann, Christopher Lamonica, Austyn Lamonica, Noah Wydra, and Joshua Lamonica; two granddaughters, Brynlee Lamonica and Savannah Wydra; a great-grandson, Theo Lamonica; a step-son, Casey Wydra and wife, Beverely of Mt. Carmel; daughter-in-law, Chloe Gilberthorpe of Elysburg; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews of OH, PA and NJ. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Lamonica; and a son, David Lamonica.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Powlus officiating in the C J Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851, C J Lucas IV, Supervisor. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service in the Mt. Camel Funeral Home. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA Central PA Center in Danville, 1467 Bloom Rd, Danville, PA 17821.
