Joseph Harry Reis, 66, of Pedricktown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, surrounded by his family and holding the hand of his beloved daughter.
Joe honorably served in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for four years of active duty. He went on to dedicate forty years to a career in truck driving, spending nearly half of that time employed by East Coast Sod and Seed in Pilesgrove, NJ. In addition, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Logan Volunteer Fire Company for ten years. Joe's distinct character-hardworking, dependable, straightforward, and oftentimes hardheaded-made him an invaluable asset to every employer and colleague who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Raised on a blueberry and asparagus farm, Joe developed a lifelong appreciation for the rural landscape of Pedricktown. The town's natural beauty was well-suited to his love of the outdoors and his admiration for all types of weather. He resided in Pedricktown for the majority of his life, spending the last 27 years in the home originally built by his great-grandparents. Joe could often be found tending his garden, fishing, crabbing, boating, finding something to fix on his old truck or boat, listening to cassette tapes in his workshop, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, or engaging in other hands-on projects around his property. He was the quintessential blue-collar man and took immense pride in his wide-ranging skill set.
Joe was predeceased by his mother Donna Maccarone (née Kragler), his father Joseph Reis Jr., his stepfather Salvatore Maccarone, and his brothers Kevin Moore and Eric Moore. He is survived by his only daughter, Sara DiPietropolo-affectionately known as "Baby Girl Reis"- son-in-law, Nicholas DiPietropolo, and Granddog Wally. He is survived by his siblings Theresa (Donald) Baker, Rhonda Reis, Marc (Jeryl) Moore, and nieces, Taylor, Sydney, Lily, and nephew Donald Jr.
Services for Joseph will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 64 Broad Street, Woodstown, NJ 08098. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday, July 10th, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on July 10, followed by a burial with military honors at Lawnside Cemetery in Pilesgrove, NJ.

I used to be a shift leader at one of the local truck stops and Joe was one of my regular customers. He spoke to me many times about his loving daughter. May he forever RIP. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
