Jota Jose Arias, precious son of Kylee Brock and Jose Arias of Sturgis, Michigan, was stillborn on the evening of Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Jota is deeply loved and mourned by his parents, as well as his grandparents: Tyrone and Jessica Washington, and Roman and Raquel Arias, all of Sturgis. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles: Jairo Arias, Renato Arias, Daven Arias, Maisilynn White, and Ty Washington, who were eagerly awaiting his arrival and will always hold him in their hearts.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Jota's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 406 S. Nottawa Street in Sturgis, with Father Andrew Raczkowski officiating. A graveside committal will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations in Jota's memory may be made to the Sturgis Travel Soccer Program, 69731 Rose Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be." - Psalm 139:13–16
